TCU Flash Instructions – Audi C7/D4 ZF 8HP

This is the main login screen where you will enter your user name and password from the email.

At the top left corner select “TMS” and click “Identify”

If you recieve the error “Unable to init device” make sure the USB cable is plugged into the dongle and the computer. Also the correct driver needs to be installed and the device should show up in “Device Manager”

In some cases the dongle may need a firmware update, it will be installed automatically before continuing.

After you click identify, the controller information will show up on the screen. There may be some warnings in red or yellow, this is normal and not a problem. If there are files in the drop down box at top right, then you can select which tune to flash on your transmission. If there are no files, take a screenshot of this screen and reply to the username/password email with the image.

Which file do I flash?
The default tune will be named as follows: ZF8HP_SoftwareBoxCode_SoftwareVersion_6800
This tune will work with DS1 OTS Tunes as well as most other companies OTS Tunes. Shift Points are at 6800 RPM
If there are other files available for your box code, you should only flash them if you have a custom tune accommodating higher shift points or other variants.
If in doubt, email us and ask, or only flash the default tune. There is also a stock file if you wish to return to stock.

After selecting the desired tune file, click “Flash” and wait until the process is complete. The green progress bar should increase from left to right. There may be yellow or red warnings, and this is not a problem. Do not disturb the car, dongle, laptop or USB cable during this process.

At the end of a successful flash you will see “Controller successfully programmed” at the bottom of the text. If any other error shows please contact support.

Adaptations are not necessary to perform on the ZF 8HP transmission unless you are having a shifting issue and the adaptation counters are heavily skewed.
We do suggest resetting adaptations if you do a transmission swap, mechatronic swap, mechatronic rebuild, or transmission rebuild.
VCDS can be used to perform the adaptations under these scenarios.
